classical archaeology

Within the scope of education in our division of Classical Archaeology, courses cover the archaeology of the Minoan Civilization in Crete (2800–1050 BCE), the Mycenaean Civilization in mainland Greece (1600–1200 BCE), and the Aegean Civilizations in Western Anatolia, particularly during the Protogeometric - Geometric period (1050–700 BCE), Archaic period (650–480 BCE), Classical period (480–330 BCE), Hellenistic period (330–30 BCE), and the Roman Imperial period (30 BCE–395 CE). The courses focus on the archaeology of these regions and periods.

In the lectures on ancient architecture, visual presentations will be used to introduce artifacts from Anatolia and other regions. Topics will include ancient architectural styles, sculpture, ceramics, small finds, and coins from the mentioned periods.
