The Department of Econometrics at Karadeniz Technical University was established in 1994 with the aim of educating qualified personnel for both the private and public sectors. In order to conduct advanced scientific studies and train academic staff and researchers, a Master's Program with a Thesis in Econometrics was opened in 2005, and a Doctoral Program in Econometrics was opened in 2010. Our department, which graduated its first undergraduate students in 1998 and its first graduate students in 2007, currently continues its service with four Professors and three Research Assistants, one of whom holds a PhD degree. 

Since its establishment, the department has been chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa KÖSEOÄžLU, Prof. Dr. Rahmi YAMAK, Prof. Dr. Hilmi ZENGÄ°N, and Prof. Dr. Tuba YAKICI AYAN, respectively. Since 2023, Prof. Dr. Zehra ABDÄ°OÄžLU has been the department chair.
