'A Cooperation Protocol' between KTU and Turkish Aerospace

A cooperation protocol has been signed between our university and Turkish Aerospace Inc. Within the scope of the protocol, a laboratory will be established in the Faculty of Engineering at KTU, and advanced R&D solutions will be developed by Turkish Aerospace Inc. engineers for unique platforms developed by Turkish Aerospace Inc. In addition, topics such as training graduate students and post-doctoral researchers, developing undergraduate projects, and providing project scholarships to students were also included in the protocol.

Our university, which is one of the leading educational institutions in Türkiye, continues to increase its collaborations for public responsibilities, in addition to its educational and research activities. For this purpose, our university signed a comprehensive collaboration protocol with Turkish Aerospace Inc. to develop national aviation activities based on local production. The ceremony regarding the protocol signed by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, and Turkish Aerospace Inc. General Manager, Prof. Dr. Temel KOTİL, was held at the Turkish Aerospace Industries in Ankara.

Within the scope of the protocol, it is planned to establish and operate a 'UAV Technologies and Thermal Management Systems Laboratory' in the Faculty of Engineering at KTU. Thus, advanced R&D solutions that will be used in the unique platforms developed by Turkish Aerospace Inc. will be developed together with academicians and students at the laboratory, where 20 researchers will be employed.

The signed protocol includes educating graduate students and post-doctoral researchers working on strategic issues for TUSAŞ, the development of undergraduate thesis projects, project scholarships for students, and contributions and responsibilities that our university will provide within the scope of the protocol.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, evaluated the collaboration provided by the protocol as an important step towards achieving our university's goal of becoming a prestigious university worldwide. He stated in his remarks after the signing ceremony that "We will collaborate with a universally respected organization. Through this collaboration, our university will conduct significant research on various topics with experts and experienced people and share the results of these studies with the public. Our university will continue on its path as a leading institution in the field by carrying out similar collaborations in the future." He also remarked that a technical trip to Turkish Aerospace Inc. would be organized with the participation of our students to explore their work areas, social areas, and original aircraft produced.

Turkish Aerospace Inc. provides services with more than 13,000 employees in 4 million square meters of open area and 710,000 square meters of closed area in the design, development, modernization, production, integration, and life cycle support processes of integrated aerospace industry systems, ranging from fixed and rotary-wing aircraft to unmanned aerial vehicles and space systems. Turkish Aerospace Inc. is Turkey's technology center and is among the global players in the fields of the Aerospace Industry.
