A New Era of Robotic Surgery at Our University's Farabi Hospital
Our University Farabi Hospital has made another significant investment to strengthen its technological infrastructure in healthcare services. The Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, recognized as one of the world's most advanced robotic surgical platforms, has been introduced to the hospital. Equipped with high-definition three-dimensional imaging technology and highly precise robotic arms, the system enables surgeons to perform operations with greater accuracy and precision. The system is entirely controlled by the surgeon and does not operate independently; every stage of the surgical procedure is carried out under the direct supervision of specialist physicians. Robotic surgery technology is expected to provide numerous advantages, including smaller surgical incisions, reduced blood loss, a lower risk of infection, less postoperative pain, and shorter hospital stays. It is also intended to help patients return to their daily lives more quickly.
Initially, the system is planned to be used in the Departments of Urology, General Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In the future, it is expected to be introduced in other suitable surgical specialties as well. Particularly in advanced and complex surgical procedures, the system is anticipated to enhance the quality of patient care and make a significant contribution to healthcare services across the region.
A Valuable Investment for Our Country and Region
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, stated that the introduction of the robotic surgery system to our University Farabi Hospital marks an important milestone for both healthcare services and academic activities. Emphasizing that university hospitals serve not only as treatment centres but also as institutions for education and scientific research, the Rector said: "The Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System that we have brought to our Farabi Hospital will enable us to provide our patients with healthcare services supported by advanced technology. At the same time, it will establish an important infrastructure for medical education, specialist training, and scientific research. We will begin admitting patients as soon as possible. As a university, we closely follow technological developments in healthcare and remain committed to implementing investments that will create value for both our region and our country."
