KTU ranks 6th among the state universities in terms of accreditation programs

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has been entitled to receive a five-year Full Institutional Accreditation certificate with the decision of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) dated May 25, 2022. In addition, units at the university endeavor for program accreditation as well.

Program Accreditation refers to the evaluation and external quality assurance process that measures whether academic and field-specific standards predetermined by an accreditation body in a particular field are met by a higher education program. THEQC is responsible for the authorization and recognition activities of accreditation bodies in Türkiye.

THEQC published the 2021 Higher Education Evaluation and Quality Assurance Status Report in December 2022. This report shows that KTU ranks 6th among state universities in terms of its accredited program ratio.

The number of accredited programs is also an important parameter in the YÖK Research Universities Annual Performance Monitoring Index. From this point of view, KTU ranks 4th among 20 State Research Universities.

Accredited programs are specified by ÖSYM in the YKS Preference Guide, which offers an effective solution to prospective students during the preference of a department and a university.

The number of undergraduate programs accredited at KTU has reached 18 by the end of 2022.

In this process, the KTU Accreditation Working Group meets regularly under the presidency of the KTU Rector and evaluates the work of units preparing for program accreditation. Candidate units at KTU are also supported by the University Quality Commission.
