The Centennial Library of the Turkish Historical Society Opened at Our University

The "Centennial Library of the Turkish Historical Society" created by the Turkish Historical Society was opened with a ceremony at the Faik Ahmet Barutçu Library of Karadeniz Technical University (KTU). This library, which contains high-quality works related to Turkish history, has been made available for researchers, academics, and students.

The opening ceremony was attended by: Vice President of the Turkish Historical Society Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus PUSTU, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Cemil RAKICI, Primary Member of the Scientific Board of Atatürk Culture, Language, and History High Institution Prof. Dr. Hikmet ÖKSÜZ, Chair of the History Department of the Faculty of Letters Prof. Dr. Uğur ÜÇÜNCÜ, as well as academicians, students, and guests. Before the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus PUSTU visited Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI in his office.

The opening program held at the KTU Faik Ahmet Barutçu Library began with a speech by Prof. Dr. Hikmet ÖKSÜZ, a faculty member of the KTU Department of History and a Primary Member of the Scientific Board of Atatürk Culture, Language, and History High Institution. Prof. Dr. ÖKSÜZ mentioned that Faik Ahmet Barutçu, after whom the library is named, was an important intellectual who provided strong support to the Turkish War of Independence from Trabzon. He also stated that KTU has enriched its resources in the social sciences over time and emphasized that the Turkish Historical Society's contribution in this regard is a valuable step for cultural sciences.

In his speech at the opening, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus PUSTU, Vice President of the Turkish Historical Society, drew attention to the Society's publications in the field of social sciences. He mentioned that KTÜ is the 26th institution where the "Turkish Historical Society Centennial Library Project" has been launched. Assoc. Prof. Dr. PUSTU emphasized that ensuring the accessibility of academic knowledge is one of the institution's primary goals and thanked the attendees for participating in the opening ceremony.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, expressed that the university is honored to host the publications of an established institution such as the Turkish Historical Society. He emphasized that the Society's publications are reliable and high-quality sources and highlighted the importance of these resources being used by students not just during exam periods, but on a continuous basis. At the end of his speech, he wished the library would be beneficial to both the university and the scientific world.

After the speeches, the ribbon cutting ceremony took place, and the guests toured the newly established library section, examining the works. The program concluded with a group photo.
