Our department has a LiDAR Integrated Unmanned Aerial Vehicle to be used mostly for research purposes. The following applications are performed with this device:

  • 3D modeling and monitoring of landslides, floods and rockfall events,
  • Revealing and monitoring of old landslide masses,
  • Determination of earthquake effects (fault trace, ground deformation, etc.) and mapping for post-disaster damage assessment,
  • Contributing to search and rescue and fire response efforts with thermal and night vision and producing heat maps,
  • 3D mapping of the ground and topographic surface under vegetation,
  • Preparation of high resolution orthophoto and digital land surface model,
  • Creation of 3D models and database for various simulations,
  • Object extraction and vegetation mapping,
  • Carrying out monitoring studies in mining areas,
  • Detection of changes in land (forest, road, vegetation, etc.) use,
  • Creating bases for the preparation of urban transformation and development projects.

Equipment

1. DJI Matrice 300 RTK Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV),

2. LiDAR module integrated on the UAV (DJI Zenmuse L1),

3. Photogrammetric camera (DJI Zenmuse P1) and

4. Infrared and night vision camera system (DJI Zenmuse H20N)

Technicial Specifications

DJI Matrice 300 RTK is an unmanned aerial vehicle that is especially suitable for use in very large work areas and in studies requiring long-term flight. It can operate safely in foggy, rainy and windy weather and rugged terrain conditions with its flight time of up to 55 minutes, advanced collision avoidance and object detection capability, and IP45 protection.

Thanks to the infrared camera, it can be used in day and night search and rescue operations in natural disaster scenarios. Dense 3D point cloud data and orthophotos can be produced with the photogrammetric camera.

The LiDAR module (DJI Zenmuse L1) integrated on the UAV has 5 cm vertical and 10 cm horizontal accuracy and can measure 240 thousand points per second. With a detection range of 450 meters, it can scan an area of ??approximately 2 km2 in a single flight. The LiDAR module also has a built-in photogrammetric camera with 20 MP resolution, so both photogrammetric data and LiDAR data can be obtained in a single flight.
