Seminar Held in Our Department by Geophysicist Elif ÇİFTÇİ from Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute

An event organized by the Department of Geophysical Engineering, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Karadeniz Technical University, hosted Elif Çiftçi, M.Sc. Geophysical Engineer, a researcher from the Geomagnetism Laboratory at Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute.

Ms. Çiftçi delivered a presentation titled “Studies on the Earth’s Magnetic Field and Professional Application Areas.”

The presentation covered fundamental topics such as the formation of the Earth’s magnetic field, its temporal variation, the operation of geomagnetic observatories, and the impacts of geomagnetic storms on technological systems. Furthermore, examples were shared regarding the applications of geophysical engineering in the field of magnetism and the effects of current space weather events on the ionosphere and GNSS systems.

This event aimed to provide postgraduate students with a significant perspective, both scientifically and professionally.
