The kick-off meeting of the SCALD (Strengthening Adaptation of Local Governments through Artificial Intelligence Supported Digital Capacity Building) project, in which our faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Berigel and Dr. Murat Kılınç are participating as researchers, was successfully held on February 17-18, 2026 at the Karadeniz Technical University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center.

During the two-day sessions, the general objectives of the project, the work schedule, and the distribution of tasks among stakeholders were clarified. Comprehensive technical evaluations were conducted, particularly regarding the definition of indicators for measuring the climate change adaptation capacity of local governments. Furthermore, the framework of the artificial intelligence-supported digital platform to be implemented within the scope of the project was outlined, and a common agreement was reached on the focus areas of capacity building and the targeted outputs.
