History

Karadeniz Technical University Of Faculty of Technology was first established in 2004 under the name Of Faculty of Technical Education by the decision of the Council of Ministers. During the establishment process, while administrative, academic, and physical structuring works were ongoing, the Council of Higher Education decided to close all Faculties of Technical Education in Türkiye and establish Technology Faculties to train engineers with high practical skills required by the industry. In this context, the Faculty of Technology in Of was established by the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 02/11/2009 and numbered 15546.

Within our faculty, four departments were established by the decision of the Council of Higher Education Presidency dated 22.02.2011 and numbered 008075: Department of Wood Products Industrial Engineering, Department of Energy Systems Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, and Department of Software Engineering. Education started in the Department of Wood Products Industrial Engineering and Department of Civil Engineering in the 2011-2012 academic year, and in the Department of Energy Systems Engineering and Department of Software Engineering in the 2013-2014 academic year. The opening of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was discussed at the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board on 31.12.2014, and the decision to open it was announced by the Council of Higher Education Presidency with the letter dated 16.01.2015 and numbered 75850160-101.0301/2291. This department admitted students for the first time in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Both academic and physical structuring works of our faculty are ongoing. For this purpose, opening new departments within our faculty, increasing the number of academic and administrative staff, improving the classroom and laboratory equipment in departments, and acquiring new department buildings continue. Additionally, quality improvement and accreditation efforts proceed in our faculty.
