Access to university track underrepresented groups applications

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) attaches great importance to the systematic, reliable, and transparent monitoring of statistical data concerning its students. At our university, data on students’ gender distribution, enrolled programs, international student ratios, country-based diversity, disability status, and other demographic characteristics are closely monitored through institutional data systems.

In this regard, the KTU Data System enables student information to be stored in an up-to-date, accessible, and analyzable manner. This system contributes to the university administration’s strategic decision-making, the planning processes of academic units, and the development of support mechanisms for students.

Furthermore, through the YÖK Atlas platform, data on program quotas, occupancy rates, student preference trends, and success rankings can be monitored by both students and academic units. This platform also facilitates comparisons among universities across Türkiye, thereby contributing to KTU’s evaluation of its academic attractiveness. (YÖK Atlas link)

In addition, through the YÖKSİS (Higher Education Information Management System) Statistical Software, data such as students’ gender, nationality, and their enrolled department and faculty are reported in a standardized format at the national level and shared with relevant institutions. This system ensures that data on KTU’s student profile are monitored in line with national higher education policies. (YÖKSİS Statistics link)

Through these data monitoring and reporting mechanisms, KTU analyzes student diversity, develops equality and inclusiveness policies based on data, and shapes its internationalization strategies in light of concrete evidence. In doing so, our university directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-4: Quality Education and SDG-10: Reduced Inequalities).
