Our University monitors student access, application, admission, and enrolment processes through institutional and national information systems. Data relating to students’ gender distribution, programmes of study, international student status, country-based diversity, disability status, and other demographic characteristics are monitored through institutional data systems. In addition, data on gender, nationality, programme, quotas, placement, and enrolment are tracked in a standardised manner through national systems such as YÖKSİS and YÖK Atlas.

Monitoring the Access and Admission Processes of Women Students
Our University monitors women’s access to higher education and their representation within the student population on the basis of gender. KTÜ’s “Policy on Women’s Applications and Admission to the University” is based on the principles of equality and non-discrimination in the application and admission processes of women applicants and treats the collection and reporting of data relating to women students’ applications, enrolment, and support processes as an institutional responsibility.

Monitoring Low-Income Students
Our University places particular importance on supporting access to higher education for economically disadvantaged students. Under KTÜ’s “Admission Target for the Bottom Financial Quintile”, it is stated that the application, admission, educational progress, and graduation status of students from households in the lowest 20% income group are regularly monitored. Scholarships, meal support, and other social support mechanisms are also provided in order to improve the retention of these students in higher education.

Monitoring Students with Disabilities and Other Disadvantaged Students
Our University operates institutional mechanisms to identify students with disabilities and other disadvantaged students and to monitor their needs. Application and support systems have been established for students with disabilities and other disadvantaged student groups, and activities have been carried out to improve their access to the University and their educational experience.

Within KTÜ’s performance framework for the 2024–2028 period, students with disabilities, international students, low-income students, minority students, and migrant students are defined as disadvantaged groups. Activities supporting the learning and integration of these groups into the University are also monitored through institutional performance indicators. This approach demonstrates that our University monitors not only overall student numbers but also the status of underrepresented and disadvantaged groups within the institution.

International, Migrant, and Refugee Students
For international students, application, admission, and enrolment processes are directly monitored by our University. Applications for international students for the 2025–2026 academic year were conducted through an online application system, while application, placement, and enrolment procedures were monitored as a separate institutional process. This system enables the University to measure and monitor access for students from different countries and nationalities.

Within the University’s strategic approach, international, minority, and migrant students are explicitly included among disadvantaged groups. Activities supporting their integration into the University, learning processes, and access to support are monitored through institutional performance indicators. Refugee or newly settled students may also be considered within international/migrant student processes and related support mechanisms depending on their legal and student status.

Non-Traditional Student Groups
In Türkiye, the main undergraduate application and placement processes are centrally administered by ÖSYM. Within this system, special quota and application arrangements are available for women applicants aged 34 and over, applicants with disabilities, and certain other groups meeting specific conditions. Following central placement, the enrolment records and student status of candidates placed at our University are monitored through the KTÜ Student Affairs system.
