Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) places strong emphasis on partnerships with civil society organizations (CSOs) in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and regularly engages in joint activities. By collaborating with local, national, and international CSOs in areas such as environment, education, gender equality, disaster management, and public health, KTU contributes to regional development. Within this scope, the University supports student volunteer initiatives and organizes sustainability-oriented events with CSOs.
KTU signed a cooperation protocol with the Türkiye Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) within the scope of the Teknofest Aviation, Space, and Technology Festival. The protocol aims to support students in developing scientific, technological, and innovative projects, enhance participation in competitions, and contribute to the cultivation of qualified human capital. On 13 November 2024, a five-year cooperation protocol was signed between KTU and the TOBB Trabzon Women Entrepreneurs Board. Through the KTU Young Women Entrepreneurs Club, the protocol supports the development of academic staff, administrative personnel, and students in the field of entrepreneurship. One of its main objectives is to encourage the active participation of youth and women in economic life, thereby increasing decent work and productive employment opportunities in line with SDG 8. The Future Skills Academy is a strategic university–industry cooperation project conducted by KTU and the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of the EU and the Republic of Türkiye. Implemented in 2024, the project developed training programs in key digital technologies (AR, VR, additive manufacturing, and design), organized awareness activities, and established a sustainable education infrastructure. By aligning the region’s industrial capacity with the digital age, the project contributed directly to the development of qualified labor and sustainable industrialization. In collaboration with the Trabzon International Student Association (TODER), Young MÜSİAD, and KTU’s International Relations Directorate, supportive courses were organized for international students. These included courses on Turkish History of Reforms, Turkish language, and “Young Trade Ambassadors,” providing additional academic and cultural support. (News link)
