The Wildlife Museum and Lab, established within the Department of Wildlife Ecology and Management of the Faculty of Forestry at Karadeniz Technical University, contributes to many scientific studies and carries out awareness activities for both students and citizens about the protection of wildlife.
The KATO Herbarium, established in 1973, consists of plants from many regions, particularly the Eastern Black Sea region. The herbarium contains approximately 20,000 plant specimens representing 635 genera and 2,006 taxa.
Pati Park, which was created to protect the stray animals living on campus and provides shelter and feeding opportunities for the animals, includes kennels, food and beverage points.
It has been determined that there are 558 different plant species within the boundaries of Karadeniz Technical University's Kanuni Campus. These identified plant species belong to 108 different families.
