Consumption of Treated Water

Karadeniz Technical University prioritizes the use of treated and safe drinking water throughout its campuses. The university’s entire water demand is met by fully equipped treatment facilities operated by the Trabzon Water and Sewerage Administration (TİSKİ).

In these facilities, water undergoes sedimentation, filtration, ozonation, and chlorination processes to meet the TS 266 drinking water standard. The water supplied to KTÜ campuses is further purified in laboratories through reverse osmosis and deionization systems, and in canteens and dispensers via activated carbon and UV filters before use.

Additionally, collected rainwater is utilized for landscape irrigation, reducing the use of potable water. Thanks to these systems, approximately 90% of the water consumed at the university comes from treated sources.

With this infrastructure, KTÜ comprehensively fulfills its goals of Healthy Water, Clean Campus, and Sustainable Resource Management.
