KTÜ Farabi Hospital: Regional Healthcare and Academic Practice Center

KTÜ Farabi Hospital, serving as the application and research hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, is one of the most comprehensive and well-equipped healthcare institutions in the Eastern Black Sea Region. Operating simultaneously in education, healthcare, and research, Farabi Hospital contributes significantly to SDG-3: Good Health and Well-being.

With advanced medical infrastructure, a team of specialist physicians, and a multidisciplinary service approach, Farabi Hospital facilitates access to healthcare services for the regional population, playing a central role particularly in advanced diagnosis and treatment. Primary Healthcare Services at KTU: Medico-Social Center and Infirmary

To protect the physical and mental well-being of its students and staff, KTU actively provides primary healthcare services. The Medico-Social Center, operating within the university, serves as the first point of application for students, academic, and administrative personnel to meet their basic healthcare needs. Services are carried out under the coverage of the Social Security Institution (SGK) as regulated by Law No. 5510. When necessary, patients are referred to other healthcare institutions for further examination and treatment. More info.

The infirmary on campus offers:

  • Emergency medical intervention without preconditions,
  • First aid and emergency care services,
  • Nursing services including injections, dressing, and treatments prescribed by physicians,
  • Basic health monitoring such as blood pressure and temperature checks,
  • Psychological counseling and guidance services.

Farabi Hospital International Health Tourism Unit

The International Health Tourism Unit at Farabi Hospital was inaugurated on February 9, 2024. As a pioneering institution in health tourism developments in Trabzon, Farabi Hospital serves patients not only from the Black Sea region and across Turkey but also from 124 countries including Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Saudi Arabia. Collaborations and Protocols in Healthcare

The University’s Drug and Pharmaceutical Technology Application and Research Centers (ILAFAR) sign bilateral protocols with various healthcare institutions to enhance public benefit in the field of health. These collaborations aim to advance education, research, clinical practices, and community-based health services. As part of these protocols, joint initiatives provide students and academics with opportunities to apply their knowledge and experience in real-world settings. Career Talks with Health Institutions

A career talk was held on May 14, 2024, with senior students of the 2023–2024 academic year through the collaboration of the Career Counseling Commission of the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ), and the KTÜ Career Development Application and Research Center. The session was conducted by the Human Resources Manager and the Nursing Services Manager of Medicana.

In collaboration with the Career Development Application and Research Center and the Career Counseling Commission of the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ), a talk was held on May 21, 2024, with senior students of the 2023–2024 academic year. The session was conducted by the Human Resources Manager and the Training Nurse of Medical Park.

In collaboration with the Career Development Application and Research Center and the Career Counseling Commission of the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ), an online talk was held on June 5, 2024, with senior students of the 2023–2024 academic year. The session was conducted by the Human Resources and Nursing Services representatives of Koç Group American Hospitals.
