Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) regards the creation of an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students as one of its key priorities. In this regard, support mechanisms for disadvantaged groups are strongly structured. At our university, each academic unit has dedicated academic advisors who closely monitor and guide the academic, social, and personal development of disadvantaged students.
These advisors provide individual support on a wide range of issues, including course selection, exam arrangements, adaptation to campus life, and specific accommodations needed by students. They play an active bridging role in minimizing challenges faced particularly by students with disabilities, international students, migrants, or those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Through this structure, KTU not only supports academic achievement but also ensures that students pursue their higher education experience on an equitable and accessible basis. In doing so, the university guarantees the full participation of disadvantaged groups in higher education and makes a tangible contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10: Reduced Inequalities.
