Disposable policy: extensions to services

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has extended its Disposable Items Minimisation Policy to include all institutional services and operations within its campuses. This extension ensures that sustainability principles are consistently applied across catering, event management, cleaning, and office supply services.

The policy requires all service providers and partners to minimize the use of disposable materials and prioritize reusable, recyclable, and biodegradable products. University units are encouraged to adopt sustainable procurement practices and to design waste management systems that significantly reduce plastic and paper waste generation.

These service-level extensions aim to strengthen KTU’s commitment to SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production by promoting a culture of environmental responsibility, sustainable resource use, and operational efficiency.
