Education for SDGs in the wider community

The Karadeniz Technical University Continuous Education Application and Research Center (KTÜ SEM) operates as a key institution that extends the university’s educational opportunities to all segments of society, promoting lifelong learning. KTÜ SEM’s services contribute to the development of knowledge, skills, and competencies, offering inclusive learning environments for individuals of all ages and professional backgrounds.

Through KTÜ SEM:

  • Certified professional development programs, technical trainings, and personal development workshops are organized for both internal and external participants.
  • Tailored training solutions are developed in collaboration with public institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations.
  • Contemporary online and face-to-face training programs are provided in areas such as digital literacy, entrepreneurship, disaster awareness, artificial intelligence, and foreign languages.

KTÜ SEM also offers accessible education opportunities for women, individuals with disabilities, disadvantaged groups, and those seeking to re-enter the workforce—supporting inclusivity and equal opportunity in education. These activities position KTU not only as a degree-awarding institution but also as a lifelong learning hub that accompanies individuals throughout their educational journey, contributing holistically to the Sustainable Development Goals.

KTU Career Development Center Activities

The Karadeniz Technical University Career Development Application and Research Center aims not only to support students’ academic and professional development but also to strengthen their sense of social responsibility. Within this framework, volunteer activities enable students to build social awareness, develop teamwork skills, and foster stronger connections with society.

Volunteer programs within the Career Center include participation in social responsibility projects, providing mentorship to peers, assisting in event organization, and actively contributing to community-oriented initiatives. These experiences help students’ personal growth while embedding social contribution as a valued component of career planning after graduation.

To recognize and encourage participation, the Career Center awards certificates and participation documents to students engaged in volunteer work. These experiences are also encouraged to be reflected in students’ CVs—integrating volunteerism as not only a form of social responsibility but also a vital element of their career journey.
