BlackNETs Project – Tackling the ‘Ghost Nets’ Problem in the Black Sea

At the Sürmene Balıklı Fishermen’s Shelter, a survey was conducted to raise awareness and collect data on ghost nets and abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear (ALDFG).

During the event, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 20 fishermen. Participants showed strong interest, asking questions and offering suggestions about the negative impacts of ghost nets and marine litter on marine ecosystems. Most fishermen expressed their willingness to support the removal of ghost nets from the sea.
