Green Building Implementations

Karadeniz Technical University actively applies green building principles across its campus buildings. Numerous implementations have been realized in the areas of energy efficiency, indoor air quality, water conservation, material management, and sustainable environmental planning.

  • Energy Efficiency: Energy savings are achieved through motion-sensor LED lighting, zoned lighting systems, and daylight sensors.
  • Indoor Environmental Quality: Maximum daylight utilization, thermal comfort, ventilation control, and acoustic performance are prioritized.
  • Water Efficiency: The rainwater collection and reuse system established in the Faculty of Architecture supports sustainable resource management.
  • Material and Waste Management: Sustainable procurement policies, use of recycled materials, and waste segregation practices are effectively implemented.

Prominent examples include the Central Research Laboratory, Faculty of Literature, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Architecture, which exemplify KTÜ’s energy-efficient, eco-friendly, and sustainable campus vision.
