Health Infrastructure for Students, Academic, and Administrative Staff

Through its health-based faculties, institutes, and vocational schools, Karadeniz Technical University both trains qualified healthcare professionals and leads the way in developing public health awareness. The units in the field of health have 705 academic staff, 222 administrative staff, and 5,757 students.

The Kanuni Campus is defined as two areas, the “north and south campuses,” based on the functions and locations of its educational buildings. The south campus is defined as an area where education and research units focused on health sciences, such as medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, are concentrated.

The health infrastructure facilities available at Karadeniz Technical University's Kanuni Campus for the well-being of students, academics, and administrative staff are as follows:

  • Faculty of Medicine and KTU Farabi Hospital (No. 34 and 35): The Faculty of Medicine has a closed area of 14,391.33 m2 and Farabi Hospital has a closed area of 84,145.26 m2. KTU Farabi Hospital, as the Faculty of Medicine's teaching and research hospital, is one of the most comprehensive and well-equipped healthcare institutions in the Eastern Black Sea Region. It facilitates access to healthcare services for the local population and plays a central role, particularly in cases requiring advanced diagnosis and treatment. In 2024, it served a total of 1,090,900 people.
  • Faculty of Dentistry and Hospital (No. 52): With a closed area of 5,398.96 m², the faculty strengthens the oral and dental health of the community through research, education, and clinical services. The hospital is an important healthcare institution that provides services to the local community as well as training for students. In 2024, it served a total of 171.900 people.
  • Faculty of Pharmacy (No. 29): With a closed area of 11,362.64 m², the faculty plays a critical role in enabling individuals to maintain healthy lives through its work in rational drug use, drug safety, and pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Health Services Vocational School (No. 36): Covering an area of 1,026.34 m², the vocational school trains personnel directly involved in the health sector, such as laboratory technicians, medical documentation and secretarial staff, and first aid and emergency care providers.
  • Medico-Social Center (within number 42): KTU effectively provides primary health care services to protect the physical and mental well-being of its students and staff. The Medico-Social Center, operating within the university, serves as the first point of contact for meeting the basic health needs of students, academic, and administrative staff.
  • Faculty of Dentistry and Hospital (No. 32): Construction is ongoing for the hospital, which will cover an area of 23.295 m².
  • Children's Hospital (No. 30): Construction is ongoing for the hospital, which will cover an area of 34,800 m².
