Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) provides dining services with a focus on health, hygiene, and affordability to ensure balanced nutrition for students and staff. Managed by the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, these services are designed under the supervision of professional food engineers and dietitians, who prepare balanced menus with high nutritional value for every meal.
Menus are developed with seasonal products in mind, ensuring sufficient intake of calories, protein, vitamins, and minerals in every meal. This enables students and staff to meet their daily energy needs in a healthy and sustainable way.
The university sets affordable participation fees to accommodate the budgets of students and staff, while also providing free meal scholarships for students in need. In this way, every individual has access to nutritious and balanced meals.
Hygiene and food safety are maintained at the highest standards, with strict controls at every stage of storage, preparation, cooking, and service. Meals are served in trays for students and on porcelain plates for staff, ensuring both healthy and safe conditions.
Through these services, KTU aims to establish an economical and accessible dining system that promotes healthy nutrition in campus life.
To support the nutritional needs of KTU students, the Department of Health, Culture and Sports provides a meal scholarship for those in financial need. This scholarship is funded by the Department’s budget and is renewed annually.
Applications submitted between September 25 – October 13, 2024 are evaluated by the Office of Scholarships and Assistance. Eligible students are granted the right to receive one free lunch per day in the university dining halls throughout the academic year.
