Karadeniz Technical University conducts educational, research, and awareness programs on climate change, creating impact at both national and international levels.
- Education and Awareness: Training programs such as “Climate Change and Environmental Behaviors” and seminars on “The Economic Impacts of Climate Change” have been organized. Additionally, the TEDxKTÜ event, themed “Healthy Planet, Healthy Future,” raised student-led awareness on climate action.
- Courses and Academic Programs: Climate Change Economics at the undergraduate level and Climate and Energy in Landscape Architecture at the graduate level have been integrated into the curriculum.
- International Projects: KTÜ participates as a coordinator or partner in EU-funded projects such as DOORS, LitOUTer, T3N-BSB, and NIDA, conducting multinational research on climate change, marine litter, blue growth, and ecosystem management in the Black Sea Basin.
- Global Research: The university has also led the 4th National Arctic Scientific Research Expedition, coordinated by TÜBİTAK MAM, to study the effects of climate change on polar ecosystems.
Through these comprehensive initiatives, KTÜ demonstrates a multilayered impact in climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas reduction, sustainable development, and societal awareness.
