Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), in collaboration with local administrations, contributes to urban planning and sustainable development projects. In this context, a special planning and design meeting was held for the Ortahisar Gulcemal Land Reclamation Project.
The meeting was organized to provide academic contributions to the planning and design stages of the project. Coordinated by the Faculty of Architecture, the event took place at the Faculty of Engineering Meeting Hall with the active participation of the Departments of Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, and Landscape Architecture.
During the meeting, various technical evaluations related to environmental, structural, and landscape design aspects of the reclamation area were conducted, offering both academic perspectives and expertise to the project process. Thanks to KTU’s interdisciplinary approach, the collaboration with local administrations provided scientifically based solutions and practical recommendations for urban planning and design.
KTU’s Department of Geomatics Engineering, in cooperation with the Chamber of Survey and Cadastre Engineers Trabzon Branch, organized the panel “Smart Cities and Cadastre”, which witnessed significant participation.
The opening of the panel was attended by the Governor of Trabzon, Aziz YILDIRIM; the Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, Ahmet Metin GENÇ; KTU Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI; the Director General of Land Registry and Cadastre, Hakan GEDİKLİ; former KTU Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim ÖZEN; as well as representatives from public institutions, local governments, academics, and students.
