Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) conducts regular educational programs and events to enhance awareness and expertise in clean energy.

On May 16, 2024, the “Photovoltaic Solar System Project Design Training” was organized for Energy Systems Engineering students to develop technical competence in solar energy project planning and prepare them for the renewable energy sector.

On December 4, 2024, a technical seminar titled “Heat Pump and Its Applications” was held at the Arsin Vocational School campus. An expert engineer explained the working principles, applications, and energy efficiency contributions of heat pump technologies. The seminar attracted significant attention from students and staff and contributed to SDG 7 by promoting knowledge sharing on sustainable and modern energy solutions. (Source)

KTU also advances qualified human-resource development for sustainable fuel transition. Between October 22 and November 13, 2024, a certified training course titled “Natural Gas-Fired Boiler Operator” was delivered at Arsin Vocational School, equipping participants with technical and practical skills for safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly heating operations. Additionally, on May 21, 2024, a seminar titled “The Role of Gas Installers in Mechanical Installation Systems” featured an experienced KTU graduate presenting energy-efficient HVAC applications.

On December 27, 2024, the “Smart Cities and Cadastre Panel” was jointly organized by the Department of Geomatics Engineering and the Trabzon Chamber of Survey and Cadastre Engineers. Attended by the Governor of Trabzon, the Metropolitan Mayor, Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, and other stakeholders, the event emphasized how information technologies and digital cadastral systems contribute to energy efficiency and sustainable city management. Through these activities, KTU strengthens awareness, professional competence, and local capacity for clean energy transitions, directly supporting SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy.
