Our University implements a range of social and financial support mechanisms to prevent students from low-income families from discontinuing their higher education due to financial hardship and to help them continue their studies successfully. On the University’s institutional “Support for Low-Income Students” webpage, meal scholarships, financial assistance scholarships, accommodation opportunities, and other forms of student support are defined as institutional mechanisms designed to help low-income students continue their education

In addition to direct scholarships, our University also operates programmes that enable students to earn income while continuing their studies. The İŞKUR Youth Programme, implemented in 2025, provided students with both work experience and financial support. For the 2025–2026 period, the programme offered 1,316 student places across the University, and one of the eligibility criteria required the student’s household income to be no more than three times the minimum wage. Students receive monthly payments according to their level of participation, while General Health Insurance and occupational accident/occupational disease insurance premiums are covered by İŞKUR.

Our University also supports low-income students in accessing affordable accommodation. On the University’s low-income student support webpage, state-operated KYK dormitories located on the Kanuni Campus and throughout Trabzon are presented as safe and affordable accommodation options. Within the same institutional support framework, students in financial need are also provided with application and referral opportunities for accommodation-related support.

In addition, the Karadeniz University Development Foundation (KÜVAK) provides scholarships to students of our University who are academically successful but require financial assistance. Applications are processed through the KTÜ Information Management System and the KÜVAK scholarship system. Taken together, meal support, financial assistance, accommodation support, and opportunities to earn income form a complementary support system for students from low-income backgrounds
