At Karadeniz Technical University, sustainability.oriented community service and social responsibility activities are carried out with the active participation of students, significantly contributing to the university’s mission of serving society. Numerous projects implemented jointly by researchers and students have produced meaningful outcomes in areas such as environmental awareness, digital transformation, employability, entrepreneurship, health and safety, and social consciousness.
Major projects with active student involvement include “Future Skills” (200 participants, 12 months), “BlackNETs” (250 participants, 18 months), “IASON+” (240 participants, 30 months), and “NEETs are Accessing to Market” (100 participants, 12 months). These long.term initiatives aimed to enhance youth employability, strengthen regional collaboration networks, and improve digital skills.
In addition, projects such as “Green Entrepreneurship: Sustainable Agriculture and Nature Education,” “A Better Future Together,” “Occupational Health and Safety,” “Awareness and Social Consciousness Raising in Urban Open Spaces,” “Technology Tours,” “KAP Model United Nations: World Health Organization,” and “Şahinkaya Camp and Rock Climbing Event” enabled students to gain hands.on experience in environmental awareness, sustainable agriculture, social engagement, and healthy living.
Furthermore, short.term training programs such as “Project Writing Training in the Engineering Core Field” and “Research Project Preparation Training for Undergraduate Students” supported students in developing their capacity to design and conduct sustainability.related projects.
In total, more than 885 students participated in 16 sustainability and community engagement projects, strengthening KTÜ’s institutional commitment to education, awareness, and community service aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
