Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has implemented a Policy for the Minimisation of Plastic Use to significantly reduce the use of single-use plastics across all university campuses. This policy reflects KTU’s commitment to sustainable consumption and environmental protection by promoting eco-friendly alternatives and reducing plastic waste generation at the source.
The policy promotes the use of reusable, recyclable, and biodegradable materials in administrative, academic, and social areas. It also encourages awareness campaigns to educate students and staff about the environmental impacts of plastic pollution and the importance of responsible waste management.
Through this initiative, KTU aims to align with SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 14 – Life Below Water, reducing plastic dependency and preventing marine and terrestrial pollution.
