Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has adopted a comprehensive Policy on Hazardous Waste Disposal to ensure the safe management, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials generated within its campuses. This policy defines the procedures for minimizing risks to human health and the environment, while complying with national regulations and international safety standards.

The policy covers the management of chemical, biological, and electronic waste from laboratories, workshops, and administrative units. It also emphasizes the importance of waste segregation, proper labeling, secure containment, and authorized disposal processes to prevent contamination and environmental damage.

Through this framework, KTU aims to strengthen institutional responsibility, protect ecological and human well-being, and promote a culture of sustainable waste management in alignment with SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
