Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has adopted a Policy on Waste Disposal – Hazardous Materials to ensure the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste generated across its campuses. This policy provides clear guidelines for minimizing risks to human health and the environment while maintaining compliance with national legislation and international safety standards.

The policy covers the safe management of chemical, biological, and electronic waste from laboratories, workshops, and administrative units. It emphasizes the importance of segregation, containment, labeling, documentation, and authorized disposal to prevent contamination and environmental harm.

Through this institutional framework, KTU aims to promote responsible waste management, environmental protection, and occupational safety in line with SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
