Our University provides public access to museums, exhibition spaces, and works of art. Museums, cultural centres, exhibition areas, and foyer spaces located within our University are accessible not only to students and staff but also to visitors from different sections of society. Through these spaces, our University supports public engagement with scientific, natural, cultural, and artistic heritage.
One of the most important examples is the Wildlife Museum, which operates within our University as a publicly accessible scientific and cultural facility. The Museum exhibits specimens of mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects representing different ecosystems, particularly the Black Sea Region, and aims to raise awareness of biodiversity and wildlife. It is open not only to members of the University but also to wider sections of society and can be visited by students, schools, public institutions, non-governmental organisations, and other visitor groups.

In addition to museum access, our University also makes its exhibition spaces and cultural centres available to art lovers and members of the local community. In 2025, numerous publicly accessible exhibitions were organised as part of the Science, Culture and Art Week held within the scope of our University’s 70th anniversary celebrations.
One important example was the “70th Anniversary Invitational National Illustration Exhibition.” The exhibition opened to visitors on 20 May 2025 at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Congress Centre and brought together digital illustration works by 38 artists from different cities across Türkiye. In addition to University administrators, academic and administrative staff, students, and invited artists, art lovers from Trabzon also attended the opening. The exhibition remained open to visitors until 26 May 2025. This event demonstrates that our University shares artistic works not only with its internal community but also with the wider public.

Another publicly accessible event organised during the 2025 Science, Culture and Art Week was the “From Botany to Art – Scientific Plant Illustration Exhibition.” Scientific plant illustrations prepared by students of our University’s Faculty of Pharmacy as part of the “Botanical Drawing in Pharmacy” course were exhibited at the Atatürk Cultural Centre Foyer Area between 20 and 25 May 2025. In this way, works combining scientific knowledge and artistic production were presented to visitors.

During the same period, the Solo Oil Painting Exhibition by Lecturer Şuayıp Şeyihoğlu was also presented to visitors at the Atatürk Cultural Centre Foyer Area. The official programme of our University’s 2025 Science, Culture, Art and Sports Week states that both this exhibition and the “From Botany to Art” exhibition were open to visitors between 10:00 and 17:00. The same programme also includes the 70th Anniversary Invitational National Illustration Exhibition at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Congress Centre.

Our University’s 2025 event calendar also lists the Solo Oil Painting Exhibition and the From Botany to Art Exhibition between 20 and 25 May 2025, as well as the 70th Anniversary Invitational National Illustration Exhibition between 20 and 26 May 2025. This demonstrates that these exhibitions were not closed internal events, but institutional cultural and artistic activities made accessible to visitors on specified dates and during designated visiting hours.

In conclusion, our University provided public access in 2025 to museum collections, exhibition spaces, and scientific and artistic works, including access for visitors from outside the University community. The public accessibility of the Wildlife Museum, together with publicly accessible painting, illustration, and scientific art exhibitions organised at venues such as the Atatürk Cultural Centre and the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Congress Centre, demonstrates our University’s institutional commitment to sharing its cultural, artistic, and scientific assets with the wider community.
