Reduce the impact of alien species (policies)

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has established Policies to Reduce the Impact of Alien Species in order to protect native biodiversity and maintain ecosystem balance. These policies outline preventive and control measures aimed at minimizing the ecological risks caused by invasive non-native species within and around university-managed areas.

The university promotes awareness programs, habitat monitoring, and research initiatives to identify and manage the spread of alien species that threaten local flora and fauna. Collaboration with environmental agencies, municipalities, and research institutions ensures that intervention efforts are effective and aligned with national biodiversity conservation strategies.

Through these actions, KTU contributes to SDG 14 – Life Below Water and SDG 15 – Life on Land by mitigating the ecological impact of invasive species and supporting the preservation of native ecosystems.
