Reducing marine pollution (policy)

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has established a Reducing Marine Pollution Policy to minimize the release of pollutants into marine and coastal environments. This policy underscores the university’s responsibility to protect aquatic ecosystems through sustainable waste management, pollution prevention strategies, and community-based environmental awareness initiatives.

The policy promotes scientific research, monitoring, and educational programs that address sources of marine pollution such as plastics, chemicals, and wastewater. It also supports collaborations with governmental and non-governmental organizations to implement sustainable practices that safeguard marine biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Through this commitment, KTU contributes to SDG 14 – Life Below Water, aiming to reduce pollution levels, enhance water quality, and promote the long-term resilience of marine and coastal environments.
