Renewable Energy Sources in Campus

Karadeniz Technical University has adopted a pioneering approach in renewable energy by integrating solar, wind, and wave energy systems into its campus infrastructure.

  • Solar Energy: Electricity is actively generated through photovoltaic panels installed on rooftops and open areas.
  • Wave Energy System (Prototype): A turbine–generator system placed on breakwaters along the Black Sea coast is being tested to enable the combined use of wave and solar energy.
  • Wind Turbine : Vertical-axis turbines, capable of operating quietly and without vibration even at low wind speeds, have been developed and are now contributing to electricity generation.

Through these systems, KTÜ aims to achieve sustainable energy production by integrating multiple renewable sources, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and strengthen its eco-friendly campus vision.
