Sustainability literacy measurement

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) regularly conducts various surveys within the scope of its Quality Assurance System to measure the satisfaction and feedback of students, academic, and administrative staff. The results of these surveys are published on the university’s Quality Office website (https://www.ktu.edu.tr/kalite/anketler) and are used to support institutional improvement processes.

Although there is no specific survey section designed solely to measure students’ sustainability literacy, the existing surveys include questions that indirectly assess aspects related to environmental awareness, efficient use of resources, social responsibility, ethical values, and awareness of the university’s sustainability policies. Through these questions, the surveys provide insights into students’ general awareness and attitudes toward sustainability.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), KTU aims to further strengthen sustainability awareness and literacy among its students. The university plans to include more systematic and direct indicators for assessing sustainability literacy in future survey practices.
