Total Carbon Footprint

The total annual carbon footprint of Karadeniz Technical University has been calculated by combining emissions from electricity consumption and transportation activities.

According to 2024 data:

  • Electricity-related emissions: 17,711 tons of CO?
  • Transportation (shuttles, vehicles, motorcycles): 2,993 tons of CO?
  • Total carbon footprint: ≈ 20,704 tons of CO?

Approximately 85% of emissions originate from electricity consumption, while the remaining portion comes from transportation activities. Based on these findings, KTÜ aims to further reduce carbon emissions by expanding renewable energy investments and enhancing sustainable transportation practices across its campuses.
