At Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), efforts to reduce inequalities are carried out systematically through various institutional structures. Within this scope, the Center for Women and Family Studies conducts activities to promote gender equality, strengthen family structures, and ensure women’s more active participation in social, cultural, and academic life. In addition, the Unit for Disadvantaged Groups aims to improve equal opportunities, enhance accessibility, and provide an inclusive learning environment for disadvantaged groups.
Furthermore, the International Student Affairs Coordination Office facilitates the adaptation processes of students from different countries, supports cultural diversity, and provides guidance on academic, social, and administrative matters. By fostering intercultural interaction, this office not only strengthens inclusiveness on campus but also ensures equal access to opportunities for international students during their educational journey.
The work of these centers and units at KTU is directly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10: Reduced Inequalities. Through these institutional mechanisms, the university enhances social justice, supports the active participation of disadvantaged and international students in education and research processes, and contributes to the dissemination of an egalitarian and inclusive approach across society.
