Water consumption tracking

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) prioritizes sustainable resource management by effectively and efficiently monitoring water use across all campuses. The University’s primary water supply is municipal network water provided by the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality TİSKİ General Directorate. Monitoring, recording, and payment processes related to water consumption are carried out regularly by the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs, while maintenance and repair of water installations are handled by the Department of Construction and Technical Works. In this way, water resources within the university are managed uninterruptedly, safely, and sustainably.

Data on water use are recorded on a regular basis and evaluated comparatively with previous years. According to official records kept by the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs, total campus water consumption is as follows:

  • 2022: 494.47 m³
  • 2023: 360.08 m³
  • 2024: 347.07 m³

The figures indicate a clear downward trend in water consumption over the last three years. This decrease reflects both the effectiveness of savings measures implemented university-wide and the positive impact of awareness-raising activities that promote more efficient water use. It also demonstrates the University’s commitment to reducing environmental impacts, conserving natural resources, and leaving a more livable environment for future generations in line with its sustainability goals.

Looking ahead, Karadeniz Technical University aims to continue transparently maintaining its record-keeping and reporting processes related to water management, while also implementing new practices to further advance water savings and efficiency.
