Karadeniz Technical University implements a comprehensive management system to ensure the protection of water resources and the prevention of pollution.
All wastewater discharge operations are conducted in compliance with the regulations of the Trabzon Water and Sewerage Administration (TİSKİ), and both laboratory and campus waste are regularly inspected. The campus rainwater channels, drainage lines, and storage systems effectively control surface runoff, reducing the risks of flooding and contamination.
Within the university, a Hazardous and Medical Waste Management Procedure is enforced to ensure that laboratory chemicals, medical waste, and absorbent materials are safely delivered to licensed companies. In addition, under the Zero Waste Management System, waste is sorted at the source, recycled, and plastic use is significantly reduced.
KTÜ also monitors the quality of drinking water supplied from the Atasu Dam through regular analyses conducted by TİSKİ and guarantees safe water consumption through routine maintenance and measurement activities within internal water networks.
Through this holistic approach, KTÜ minimizes water pollution risks and maintains an eco-friendly campus infrastructure by integrating rainwater management, waste segregation, and continuous water quality monitoring.
