Water Recycling Program Implementation

Karadeniz Technical University operates a comprehensive Water Recycling Program that integrates rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse across its campuses.

The system regulates water collected from building roofs and hard surfaces through flow control equipment, stores it in underground reservoirs, and reuses it in toilet cisterns, cleaning taps, and irrigation systems.

The infrastructure developed under this program reduces dependence on the municipal water supply, supports sustainable resource management, and minimizes the campus’s environmental impact. The implementation is carried out within the framework of KTÜ’s “Water Reuse Policy”, established in line with the university’s environmental strategy, and is being gradually expanded to all campuses.
