Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has implemented a Water Reuse Policy to promote the sustainable management and reuse of water resources across its campuses. This policy aims to reduce freshwater consumption, minimize wastewater generation, and encourage the recovery and recycling of water in line with environmental sustainability principles.
The policy supports the use of greywater systems, rainwater harvesting, and wastewater treatment technologies to ensure efficient use of available water resources. It also encourages awareness among staff and students regarding water conservation and the adoption of innovative water reuse practices in laboratories, dormitories, and landscape irrigation.
Through this policy, KTU contributes to SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, reinforcing its institutional commitment to sustainable campus operations and environmental protection.
