Workshop on Patent Search, organized as part of the GRAND BLACK SEA FORUM to be held in Trabzon between 10-12 December 2025, hosted by Karadeniz Technical University, invites students, researchers, entrepreneurs and innovative thinkers to develop forward-looking solutions addressing the challenges in the Black Sea basin, while equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed for effective patent drafting and intellectual property protection.

Workshop on Patent Search, will be implemented as part of the project entitled ‘T3N-BSB Transnational Technology Transfer Network for the Black Sea Basin’ which is funded within Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme and led by the Karadeniz Technical University Technology Transfer Application and Research Centre (KTU TTC) with the partnership of the “Centre for Research and Technology Hellas” (CERTH) from Greece, the “Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation” (BATTI) from Bulgaria and the “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati (UDJG) from Romania.

Who Can Apply?

The workshop is open to:

• University students (Master’s, PhD)
• Researchers and academic teams
• Startups and entrepreneurs
• Companies, clusters and business support organisations

Priority will be given to those with an invention idea. Participation in the event is limited.

Why Participate?

With the Workshop on Patent Search, participants will develop patent research competence, gain knowledge of patent terminology, learn to use patent research databases and understand patent research methods.

Applications for the patent search workshop, which will remain open until 21 November 2025, will be evaluated, and those who qualify to participate within the quota will be notified by 01 December 2025.

• Participants must be enrolled in one of the graduate programs in the fields of engineering, science, health and social sciences

• Participation in the event is completely free of charge.

Applicants meeting the following criteria will be preferred:

• Have a basic knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights
• Holds at least a master degree/specialization in engineering, health or science
• Preferably, has filed at least one national or international patent/utility model application
