Training| Increase Patent Research Competencies for Graduate Students

'Training on Increasing Patent Research Competencies for Graduate Students' will be held between 2-4 September 2024, within the scope of TUBİTAK BİDEB 2237-A Grant Program for Scientific Training.

The application process is open until 2 August 2024, and the program will continue to accept registrations for enthusiasts til deadline.

Aim

By creating early awareness on researchers with postgraduate students;

*increasing their awareness and knowledge about intellectual and industrial property rights,

*learn patent search methods in national and international databases,

*It is aimed to develop the skills of doing research on their own inventions.

Scope

A training event will be organized to increase the patent awareness of 24 participants, consisting of graduate and PhD students with different research fields, to improve their invention research capabilities and to increase their national and international patent/utility model/design application capacity in terms of quality and quantity, which will support the protection processes of the invention.

In the theoretical and practical training, the basic concepts of intellectual and industrial property rights will be introduced with examples, and patent research methods will be carried out practically according to the relevant criteria.

Within the scope of theoretical training; patent application processes, application forms, fees, deadlines and evaluations, points to be considered in patent applications, post-application follow-up channels, annual fee transactions, document management systems, international application criteria, and strategic application methods in international applications will be introduced.

Applied studies will continue with strategies for researching innovative ideas in patent databases, eliminating the data obtained as a result of technical searches with filters, and accessing patent documents with the closest claims.

In line with the effective learning strategy, the participants will be divided into 4 groups, whose demographic characteristics will be taken into account, and preliminary research studies will be conducted according to their technology classes, suitable for a realistic invention statement.

At the end of the theoretical and practical training, an invention notification form belonging to each participant will be provided to the inventors, and if the innovation and inventive step criteria are met, they will be directed to the patent application processes.

Conditions Required for Participants

1.Participants who will receive training must be active students with a graduate or PhD degree studying abroad.

2. Participants must be enrolled in one of the postgraduate programs in the country in the fields of engineering, science, health and social sciences. (Although graduate fields do not have a direct impact on participant preference, they will be important in terms of balanced distribution in group studies.)

3. Participants must not have made an official patent/utility model/design application before the TURK PATENT before.

4. Participants must have attended previously held 2237-A events at most 3 times. (Priority will be given to participants who have not participated in the 2237-A event before.)

5. It will be ensured that the distribution of men and women is proportionate according to the application rates.

6. Priority will be given to those who have an invention idea related to the fields in which the participants study.

7. Participants must not have been dismissed from the profession, public office or the organization of relevant institutions, directly or within the framework of the procedures stipulated in the said Decree Laws, by the Decree Laws enacted within the scope of the State of Emergency.

Event Venue
