Continuous MÜDEK Program Accreditation Success (2008-2031) 10 Departments - 12 Programs

The Faculty of Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has successfully maintained its MÜDEK undergraduate program accreditation without interruption since 2008, demonstrating its sustained commitment to national and international quality standards in engineering education for nearly 18 years.

Following the most recent evaluation conducted by MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs), the accreditation applications submitted by the Faculty's undergraduate engineering programs were successfully approved. Accordingly, the accreditation periods of the following programs have been extended, effective 30 September 2026.

Programs Granted Full Accreditation (Five-Year Accreditation) until 30 September 2031
Civil Engineering
Geological Engineering
Geomatics Engineering
Mining Engineering (30% English)
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
Civil Engineering (100% English)
Programs Granted Conditional Accreditation with Interim Evaluation (2+3 Years) until 30 September 2028
Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Computer Engineering (30% English)
Industrial Engineering
Electrical and Electronics Engineering (100% English)

As a result of this achievement, these accredited programs will continue to use the EUR-ACE®? Label, one of the most prestigious international quality labels for engineering education, throughout their respective accreditation periods.

MÜDEK is the national accreditation agency authorized by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC/YÖKAK) to carry out quality assurance and accreditation activities for higher education engineering programs in Türkiye. Furthermore, MÜDEK is authorized by the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) to award the EUR-ACE®? Label to accredited engineering programs. In addition, MÜDEK's status as a full signatory of the Washington Accord further strengthens the international recognition, credibility, and comparability of accredited engineering programs worldwide.

Accordingly, graduates of the accredited programs at the Faculty of Engineering benefit from significant advantages when applying for postgraduate education abroad, international research opportunities, student and academic mobility programmes, and engineering career opportunities in different countries. The international recognition associated with MÜDEK accreditation and the EUR-ACE®? Label enhances the visibility and acceptance of their qualifications, facilitates academic credential evaluation and professional recognition processes in many countries, and provides graduates with a stronger competitive position in the global labour market. Consequently, their access to international education and employment opportunities is substantially enhanced.
