About the Department
The students who have graduated from the Department of Fisheries Technology is awarded with a Bachelor's degree in the field of FISHERIES TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING
Following graduation, those who complete a 12-month naval internship, are entitled to take for the "Restricted Watchkeeping Officer" proficiency test. Passing this exam entitles candidates to receive the Restricted Watchkeeping Officer certification.
Graduates can obtain Personal Survival Techniques, Basic First Aid, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Personel Safety and Social Responsibility, Proficiency in Lifesaving Appliances, Keeping Navigation Watch, Radar Observation and Plotting certificates without attending the course.
The General Radio Operator (GOC) qualification is available to third-year students who successfully complete the Communication at Sea course.
2nd year students take elective courses related to their preferred field (Marine Ecology, Aquaculture and Fish Diseases, Fisheries Management, Sea Food Processing) in order to specialize in a particular field.
MINOR: Obtaining a minor in the Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering entitles students with a grade point average of 2.60 or higher to qualify for the tests for "Unlimited Watchkeeping Officer."
Students can also get a minor in the Faculty of Science 'Department of Biology', Faculty of Forestry 'Department of Wildlife Ecology and Management' and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences 'Business Administration'.
DOUBLE MAJOR: Students with a grade point average of 2.80 or more out of 4 can get a double major in 'Department of Maritime Transportation Management Engineering', 'Department of Biology', 'Wildlife Ecology and Management' and graduate with a double diploma.
