History

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) began its academic journey on September 19, 1963, with four faculties. Today, it continues its educational mission with 12 faculties, 8 vocational schools, 1 school, 6 graduate schools, and 17 research and application centers. As the university rapidly developed both academically and administratively, a need arose to keep academic and administrative staff informed about activities in education, achievements, sports, culture, concerts, congresses, symposiums, conferences, and panels. To meet this need, the Rectorate decided to publish a bulletin, with the first issue released in 1986. 

• In 1986, the first issue of the "Karadeniz Technical University Bulletin" was published. Between 1986 and 1990, 11 issues were prepared at intervals of 1 to 6 months. 
• From October 1990 to May 2001, 61 additional issues (11–71) were published under the name "News Bulletin." 
• Between November 24, 1997, and January 4, 2006, alongside the "News Bulletin," a single-page weekly bulletin titled "Yellow Journalism" was released, totaling 255 issues. 
• From September 2004 to January 2006, 34 weekly issues (256–289) were published under the name "Blue Pages." 
• Between January 2006 and December 2012, the "KTU News" bulletin (issues 290–365) was published biweekly or monthly. 
• From 2013 to 2018, the Faculty of Communication undertook the preparation and publication of the KTU News Newspaper monthly, releasing 40 issues. 
• Between September 2018 and September 2020, 13 issues (41–53) were printed in 3,000 copies using offset printing by the University Printing House and distributed to units and institutions. 
• Due to rising costs, the KTU News Newspaper has been prepared and published online starting with its 54th issue. 

The first Bulletin was published in 11 issues between 1986-1990.	The Newsletter published 61 issues between 1990-2006.
In addition to the Monthly Newsletter, 55 issues of "This Week at KTÜ" were published between 24.11.1997 and 04.08.2004.	This Week at KTÜ started to be published as a single page under the name News from KTÜ after the 255th issue.
The single-page News from KTÜ bulletin continued to be published as of January 2006, with the number of pages increased.	KTÜ News was transformed into a newspaper and published 40 issues between 2013-2018 by the Faculty of Communication.
After the 41st issue, KTÜ Newspaper began to be printed as offset at the University Printing House.	The 54th issue of KTÜ News Newspaper (September 2020) was prepared ONLINE and presented to its readers.
