Department of Nutrition and Dietetics started its education life within the Faculty of Health Sciences of Karadeniz Technical University as of 2022. The duration of the program is 8 semesters and the language is Turkish.
Karadeniz Technical University Department of Nutrition and Dietetics; It aims to train "Dietitians" who will be health professionals with technological and scientific equipment and international quality in order to protect, improve and develop the health of the population with adequate and balanced nutrition throughout life and increase the quality of life, and to treat nutrition-related diseases seen in the society. In order to keep the quality of the dietitians we train at world standards, we aim to establish a quality education staff that aims to develop important features such as evaluating evidence-based nutrition and dietetics science, being able to put the knowledge into practice, conducting scientific studies on national and international platforms, and using communication methods effectively and reaching levels that will compete with world standards in education. and we attach importance to continuous renewal. Because, in order for the field of nutrition and dietetics to have a say in the national and international arena and to contribute to the development of health, it is very important to constantly renew existing programs in the light of scientific developments and facts, and to develop academic staff and technological infrastructure. The education program of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics consists of theoretical and practical courses in accordance with the Nutrition and Dietetics Core Education Program (CEP) of the Higher Education Institution. In the first three years, theoretical and practical courses are given to establish the professional infrastructure. In the first year, basic sciences courses (anatomy, physiology, medical biology and genetics) are given to form the basis for profession-related courses in the following years. In addition, introductory courses include topics that need to be known about the profession, such as ethical principles, history of the profession, and basic application areas. In addition to the summer internship at the end of the third year, in the senior year, four different practice courses are held in different hospitals, institutions and organizations covering the fields of study of four departments for 7 weeks, with at least 24 hours of practice per week. In order to graduate, students must pass all compulsory and elective courses in 8 semesters and complete 240 ECTS.
