The department includes academicians with expertise in their fields and all necessary activities are carried out along with the courses. The study areas of our department are New Turkish Language, Old Turkish Language, Old Turkish Literature, New Turkish Literature and Turkish Folk Literature. The purpose is to develop the students as individuals with advanced skills in their field. Accordingly, the department also keeps a wide academician profile. It is desired that the graduates of the department become successful in job interviews in the field of their choice and that they carry out a successful career. An additional purpose is to make our students skillful and well equipped literature experts in both national and international level.

The department offers master and PhD programmes as well.
