Urban and Regional Planning Unit, which was originally founded in the Department of Architecture as a M.Sc. course in 1996, was accredited as the Department of Urban and Regional Planning in 2003. The department started offering courses in 2005.
Urban and Regional Planning Department of Karadeniz Technical University was the first department to be established in the field of Planning in the Black Sea and North-East Anatolia regions. The department's objectives are to focus on the region's issues such as sustainable development and urbanisation as well as to become a competitive department in the field.
Master program is also available at the department for students who wish to further their studies.
